There are many places to search for answers to your Georgia genealogy questions. If you know what is available, you can make much better use of your time and effort in finding out all you can about your ancestors in Georgia. Here is where to start some of your searching.
In 1777 Georgia was organized into the following eight counties: Burke, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Richmond and Wilkes. On June 2, 1788, Georgia became the fourth state of the original 13 colonies.
