There are many places to search for answers to your Florida genealogy questions. If you know what is available, you can make much better use of your time and effort in finding out all you can about your Florida ancestors in the US. Here is where to start some of your searching.
Florida was under colonial rule by Spain and Great Britain during the 18th and 19th centuries before becoming a territory of the United States in 1822. Two decades later, in 1845, Florida was admitted to the union as the 27th US state. Since the 19th century, immigrants have arrived from Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia.
We have gathered together a list of those resources we are aware of for the most common resources, and also some of the less common places to look for information about your family. So, help yourself to the information below, and go hunting.
