The enumerators registered information for 7,204,838 individuals distributed as follows: British Columbia (392,480), Alberta (374,663), Saskatchewan (492,432), Manitoba (455,614), Ontario (2,523,274), Quebec (2,002,712), New Brunswick (351,889), Nova Scotia (492,338), Prince Edward Island (93,728), Northwest Territories (17,196), and the Yukon (8,512). Newfoundland was not counted since it was a British colony and did not join Canada until 1949.
