The 1851 New Brunswick Canada census was the first every name census done in this colony.
It is interesting to note that all the enumerators were English although much of New Brunswick had more French than English colonists.
The results of the census were due by November 1, 1851, but most enumerators missed the deadline. Some of the returns were probably completed in early 1852.
In the 1851 New Brunswick Canada census enumerators asked the following questions.
Column | Question |
---|---|
1 | Name |
2 | Sex |
3 | Relationship |
4 | Age |
5 | Race |
6 | Rank or occupation |
7 | Date of entering the colony |
8 | Sick or infirm |
9 | Remarks of enumerator |
